Perfect Arrangement

It’s 1950, and new colors are being added to the Red Scare. Two U.S. State Department employees, Bob and Norma, have been tasked with identifying sexual deviants within their ranks. There’s just one problem: Both Bob and Norma are gay, and have married each other’s partners as a carefully constructed cover. Inspired by the true story of the earliest stirrings of the American gay rights movement, madcap classic sitcom-style laughs give way to provocative drama as two “All-American” couples are forced to stare down the closet door

Show Dates: September 29-October 1 and October 5-8.

Disaster!

Written by Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick
Directed by Amy Miller
Musical Direction by Justin Sanders

The Town & Gown Players present Disaster! The Musical. It’s 1979, and New York’s hottest A-listers are lining up for the opening of a floating casino and discotheque. What begins as a night of boogie fever quickly changes to panic as the ship succumbs to multiple disasters, including earthquakes, tidal waves, and infernos. As the night turns into day, everyone struggles to survive and, just maybe, repair the love that they’ve lost… or at least escape the killer rats. And sharks.

Disaster! is a new musical straight from Broadway, featuring some of the most unforgettable songs of the the 70s. “Hot Stuff”, “I A Woman”, “Hooked on a Feeling”, “I Will Survive”, and “”Knock on Wood” are just a few of the scintillating hits in this hilarious musical comedy by Emmy nominee and SiriusXM Broadway host, Seth Rudesky, and Jack Plotnick. The New York Times calls it a “self-consciously silly spoof” of melodramatic 1970s classics like “Earthquake”, “The Towering Inferno”, and “The Poseidon Adventure”.

The Players’ production is helmed by Town & Gown veterans Amy Miller (Director) and Justin Sanders (Musical Director) and features many familiar faces from recent productions, including Katie Chapman, Tia Braswell, Richard Chaney, Jack Dugan, Chris Steele, and Leslie Whitehead-O’Neal, alongside a slew of local singers and dancers.

“The cast is top notch and the script is just the dumbest, smartest thing”, says Miller. “The way they’ve woven the songs into the plot goes so far above and beyond your typical jukebox musical. Whether you remember the 70s or not, you’re going to have a fantastic time surviving this volcano/earthquake/tsunami/shark attack with us each night.”
